Chapter 7: Death message

Onix parked on the external boundaries of the village, precisely beside the humble inn he was heading towards, which was just beside one of the mountain's recess. The first stepping out was Rezler, who lokked curious at the little houses made of stone and the multitude of elderly people (most of the population) from the area. It was an idyllic place, a little forgotten place situated on the side of a sheer and green mountain, with streams of spring flowing through the boundaries of the land. The streets weren't even asphalted except for the small main square, with lots of beautiful trees that gave an everlasting and welcoming shadow to the ones who would like to take shelter from the summer's heat. Motorized vehicles were hardly seen, but people didn't seem to pay much attention to the tank of Aklas' arrival, maybe due to the eyes that, mostly, had seen everything during their long life.

After the hunter, Onix stepped out of the cabin with difficulty, making sure first that the scaled parts of his face were totally covered by black cloth to hide his warlock condition. With his eyes focused in Rezler, who was backwards and distracted, he took off the handcuffs he had been saving since his captor took them off moments ago. Before the surprised hunter could react, Onix pulled out one of his small knives with a quick and agile wrist movement and aimed discreetly at his new hostage.
-Don't say or do anything. -said- Take it easy, alright?- I'm going to keep my promise of letting you alive. Anyway, my boss wants your head, and, as you may understand, and to make certain that a lost and abandoned fool like you is in fact dead, it's just what he needs.
-What the hell are you going to do now eh?! -shouted Rezler infuriated-
-Don't shout. -Onix spoke quietly- ...or i'll have to take down that little promise i made to you in the end, and believe me, i wouldn't care that much.
-...
-Well. Now, what we are going to do is go inside the inn and, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, ask for the room number 14, the one on the last floor on the right bottom.
-The woman on the reception desk, very courteous and friendly, told them that exactly, the day before a man went there to reserve that bedroom, and gave orders to hand the key to anyone who knew the name of the holder...
-Messenger. -said Onix, convinced-
-That's right -said the woman- Strange, by the way, that's how that mysterious man was named after. Here you have the key.

Onix couldn't hide his surprise having to open with key by himself and, not as it was usual until then, simply knock the door of the corresponding room so that the Messenger would welcome him. He thought that maybe the Messenger had other matters to take care of and due to that left the key alone on the room, or probably, not having any more missions to accomplish, there was no need of anyone who announced the following instructions after receiving the reward for a successful work.

Anyway, the assassin and his hostage went upstairs to the last floor and there Onix looked for the door with the number 14 and put the key into the lock, ready to open it and enter. But, before he could do this, Rezler , who noticed that it was possible to jump to the side of the mountain near the inn, by the window on his right, took advantage of the situation to hit his captor strongly against the door, leaving him stunned some seconds and escape jumping violently by the window, braking the pane and easily reaching the side of the mountain. Then the hunter started sliding with difficulty until he arrived to the ground, with the objective of reaching the tank and driving it no matter what, but Onix, who recovered quickly, didn't hesitate on leaving what he was doing and following the fugitive's steps fast, until he finally reached him just before he arrived to the vehicle, throwing himself over him.

The woman from the inn, who heard the strong roar from upstairs and the panes braking, went upstairs alarmed to see what was happening. Finally, and as she thought, the noise came from the third and last floor, and saw that the window beside the 14 room was broken into pieces. Seeing as the key of the bedroom was into the lock, didn't hesitate to open it willing to ask for an explanation for that destructive show to whomever was inside.

Onix was thinking wether he would vent his rage against Rezler after the sudden attack of rebelliousness of the hostage, but he had little time to think about it since a huge explosion startled both men in that same moment. Onix, surprised, turned around and saw that smoke and fire came out from the window he previously crossed.
-It seems your boss left a farewell present there for you eh! Hahahahaha! -said Rezler from the floor, still inmobilized by Onix and laughing ironically-
...I should have imagined it when i received a key to the room. -said the warlock, with dismay-

Onix, staying on the same position and on that same moment, despite the chaos that prevailed amongst the few and poor villager, decided to make a call making sure to hide the number.
-Yes? Who is it?
-Boss. It's Onix.
-Ah, onix. You haven't arrived to your objective in Cebium? Why the hell are you using a hidden number to call me?
-I have arrived, Boss. Could you please explain me what's wrong with my money?
Just as the warlock expected, in that moment the speaker put down.
